What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a very relaxing, non-intrusive complementary therapy. Reflexology works on pressure points on the feet and hands by using a very gentle pressure technique to bring about a sense of deep relaxation and to stimulate the body’s own healing processes.
Reflexology is extremely effective and is based on the principle that reflex points on the feet and hands are connected to each organ and structure in the body. By stimulating these points you can create a direct response in a related body area.
What are the benefits of Reflexology?
Although Reflexology does not claim to cure any condition it facilitates healing within the body, many different conditions such as insomina, migraines and anxiety have been helped very successfully. Some of the benefits are:
- Feelings of deep relaxation
- Increased wellbeing
- Release of tension, stress and anxiety
- Improved sleep
- Improved mood
Reflexology is a safe and natural therapy and can therefore work alongside any conventional medicine. However, it is always a good idea to consult with your GP if you are currently receiving medical care.
What Happens During a Treatment?
During the first visit I will take a full medical history and find out the reasons for you choosing the treatment. This will ensure the treatment is specifically tailored for you. You will then be asked to remove your shoes and socks/tights, roll up your trouser legs and recline on the couch. I will then carry out the treatment. At the end of the treatment I will offer feedback whilst you have a glass of water. The consultation and treatment will last for one hour.
How Many Treatments will I Need?
It is difficult to determine how long it will take an individual to feel the benefits of reflexology. A feeling of deep relaxation can be obtained with just one session however most client find a series of treatments has the best effect. Treatment plans will vary from client to client.
